Tanner LLC is pleased to announce that David R. Hoopes, CPA, has been admitted as an Audit Partner.
Hoopes has over 30 years of public accounting experience including working 15 years with a “Big Five” international firm, six years with a national firm, and two years with a local CPA firm. He also worked seven years for a securities litigation firm, consulting as an expert witness in large broker-dealer financial institution disputes. He began his career in Portland, Oregon and moved to Utah seven years ago.
His public accounting experience includes serving companies in the manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, retail, professional services, transportation, not-for-profit, and employee benefit plan sectors. He has audited both multi-national public companies and privately held entities, providing consultation on a wide array of accounting issues, including revenue recognition, debt and equity transactions, business combinations, and other matters.
Hoopes holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is active in the community as a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and teaches a weekly financial literacy class to inmates at the Utah State Prison on behalf of the UACPA.
